makeover of our staircase

before and after

brick slips which we painted in grey
an old plank which we've found in the garden when bought the house
(the wall doesn't look so big/high with the plank in the middle)

side table

grey bedside cabinet

corner cabinet

I've bought the unit as new but didn't really like the colour...wanted to add some age to the wood -
I'm very happy with the result...
How I did it:
grey paint (chalky) on wet cloth and on the wood (wait a while till the paint starts to dry and then remove with another wet cloth - remove as much as you like). I repeated the process a few times (in some places) till I was happy with the greyish effect.
On the door: transfer
All protected with a satin varnish...

I've painted the fronts white and glued  the motifs from a leftover wallpaper (PVA) then varnished for protection (3 layers)

The frame - I've removed the old paint with a sand paper ( 80) and also with the chisel-to make some holes), then I've painted with a grey paint-1 layer and when almost dry I've gently wiped the grey paint off with a wet cloth .
