used methods: proper clean using just warm water, iron wool and vinegar method, when dry: dry brushing with white paint and at the end varnished with clear varnish

top of the table: steel wool and vinegar method:

British flag

 top-British flag/hand painted: primer &  coats of white, light grey and dark grey chalky paints applied by dry brushing. You need to wait for each one to be dry before applying the next one. Sanded at the end and varnished (needed 5 coats to make it nice & smooth).

Legs & sides: old varnish removed. Clear & white wax applied.

the story of my fireplace.....

3 x stone tiles, old planks, new planks, 2 x wooden ornaments, clear & dark wax

we placed 1 large stone tile on each side / on the back and the bottom:  pine planks

on the front: 3 different sizes old planks (each side) glued together 

dark wax applied on the planks (and dry brushing on the edges of the front planks using white paint)

wooden ornaments painted white and waxed with clear and dark wax
